Sustainable Living Japan

Using Data and Technology

To Create Sustainable Lifestyles

WHAT IS GOMI-MAP

Gomi-Map is an organization striving to apply data and technology to create a more sustainable country in Japan and around the world. We host an online application that shows the nearest recycling spots with additional instructional information. Users can choose the type of waste to recycle and the nearest route to the correct recycling spot will be shown.

WHY IS OUR MISSION IMPORTANT?

Today’s environmental problems are becoming an increasing concern for society. Our wasteful lifestyle has become a threat to our future and coming generations.

Each person is wasting 5 grams of plastic daily. This amounts to 9,000,000 tonnes of wasted plastic per year.

PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

Waste has a huge potential as a resource and is often not handled properly. We review popular household products and packaging found in Japan and unravel the truth behind their sustainability impact on the environment.

By educating our audience, we will increase the recycling rate, create a circular economy and form a foundation for better recycling processes in Japan.
